Strategic Assessment SME (8)

Description

In support of Joint Staff and OSD Strategic Assessment requirements, provide analysis, perspective, and assessments on behalf of USSTRATCOM.  These assessments are generally recurring and require intense data collection efforts and in-depth analysis using both qualitative and quantitative techniques.  Perform and document assessment work requiring substantive knowledge of plans, operations, missions, policies, and objectives.  Examples include identification of military and strategic risks, vulnerabilities, and capability gaps; and shortfalls in doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities (DOTMLPF).  Provide critical review of documents and develop other assessments, as required to respond to internal and external tasking.  Provide USSTRATCOM leadership with critical analyses of Joint Staff and OSD products (e.g. Chairman’s Risk Assessment, Joint Military Net Assessment, and National Military Strategy).   Develop ad hoc assessments and analyses as required.  Effectively build relationships across the Command and with counterparts at Combatant Commands, Services, and other government agencies to support information gathering and coordination for strategic assessment efforts.  Develop information papers, reports, and briefings in support of strategic assessments, ensuring findings align with other ongoing assessment/analysis efforts and adjudicating conflicts that arise. Perform document reviews to identify items of strategic assessment interest and update document repositories/databases as appropriate to facilitate strategic assessment development.   Support Command Assessment staff during Command Exercises.
